» LOS ANGELES TIMES? ARMENIAN JOURNALIST LEAVES NEWSPAPER FOR BIASED ARTICLE ABOUT ALLEGED ARMENIAN GENOCIDE

Armenian journalist of the Los Angeles Times Mark Araks had to leave the newspaper for his biased article about alleged Armenian genocide, publisher of the newspaper David Hiller said, APA’s US bureau reports. Mark Araks prepared a broad and biased article about the so-called Armenian genocide on the eve of alleged Armenian genocide April 24. Managing Editor of the newspaper Douglas Frantz rejected publishing the article.

» 133 BRITISH PARLIAMENTARIANS SUPPORT ARMENIAN GENOCIDE RESOLUTION

133 British parliamentarians expressed their support on the Armenian Genocide resolution. This is three times the total for 2006, when 46 MPs signed the motion by Jeremy Corbyn. It is also more than double the previous highest total of 63, which was achieved in 2003. It is expected that many more will undersign the document after the June 27 major speech on a report entitled "Darfur and Armenia" in the House of Commons.

RA President Robert Kocharian handed 13 nominal presidential awards for 2006. Harnt Dink, Agos Armenian-Turkish newspaper editor-in-chief, was awarded posthumously. Paolo and Vittorio Taviani, Italin Film directors, also received the award for their recently shot film "Lark Farm."The award was for the first time conferred posthumously. "Hrant Dink’s death is a great loss for our people.

Statements that the OSCE Minsk Group for Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement has exhausted itself is an Azerbaijani idea and the Armenian side must not pick up the idea, member of the Dashnaktsutyun ARF Bureau, Armenian Parliamentary Deputy Speaker Vahan Hovhannisyan announced at a news conference in Yerevan today.

Summit of the Organization of Democracy and Economic Development GUAM launched in Baku on June 18. GUAM Foreign Ministers and members of the relevant structures of the organization met to consider issues referring to GUAM. It is envisaged that the GUAM experts will discuss the formation of GUAM peacekeeping party.

EU Special Representative to South Caucasus Peter Semneby after several meetings in Yerevan was to leave for Nagorno Karabakh on June 17. Several meetings were scheduled between Peter Semneby, NKR President Arkadi Khukasian, Foreign Minister Georgi Petrosian and representatives of NGOs. But Sebneby didn’t get to Karabakh, though he had got over half of the way.
